I made a list of all the lands that the children visit in the faraway tree series and have asked everyone as their first layout to pick a land from the list and create a layout inspired by it. For their second layout I've asked everyone to think up a new land - somewhere they might want to visit and create a layout based on that.
The covers are made from a cd case I bought years ago at Shared Earth handmade from leaves but I will be leaving those at home and just sending the pages round due to rising postage costs! The pages are all made from Stampin' Up!s whisper white cardstock. It's very clean, crisp and white, not my usual style but I love it nevertheless. Unfortunately my photographic skills leave a lot to be desired and they don't do the crispness justice but here's my best shot...
Each page is 12 inches long, scored at 1 inch and again at 5.5inches. The first page is a mix of Lavinia stamps, lavinia scenescape, a penny black stamp, glitter, gems and a mini pic of the front cover of the 1978 version of the Enchanted Wood that I remember so well. Each one inch flap has a title on it e.g. introduction, chapter 1, 2 etc... Every "page" is a little booklet comprising of 4 pages, the front, a DLO in the middle and the back.
On the back of the first booklet of 4 pages is a list of lands at the top of the Faraway Tree for everyone to choose from. I put them on top of a transparent 1939 Enchanted Wood cover coloured purple to match my colour scheme:
The second and third little booklets have additional information about the story and characters that I just wanted to add in. They include copies of actual drawings from the original version of the book.
This shows everyone's individual blank booklets with the chapter numbers on.
Once the CJ comes back I will decorate the front of each booklet with their chosen land names so they are all uniform so I will be asking everyone to leave the front of their booklets blank. For my lands I chose the Land of Lollipops and I created the Land of Wings.
This one I used the flash and you can see the white a little better...
Inside the booklets are the entries of the lands...
On the back of the booklets is where we sign in and put any explanation of the chosen land, how you created it and any other info you want.
I loveeeeeee your land of lollipops octopode page
