You're Having A Laugh?!!

I've joined a new Circle Journal on UKS called You're Having A Laugh, it's an Art Journal CJ and sounds like it's going to be lots of fun! I'm carrying on with the same theme as my last art journal CJ (From the Ashes) which is Word Play. I send a large list of words round and participants choose one or two words and create a page based on that word. For those who haven't seen the instruction booklet here it is:

Inside the back page are tags for people to complete a matching tag to their page. I've included a list of words already used in the previous CJ and then on the other side is the start of a new list to add new words:

I've cropped the back as it has my address on it:

For my word I chose SILLY - here's my entry:

And matching tag:

I'm sending sketch book paper round in cello bags for everyone, helps save on postage and I can just add the pages and tags to my collection when they return. Looking forward to this one. Keep Crafting. Sian xx

Affirmation Postcards

Part of a swap on UKS we had to create two sets of 6 x 4 inch postcards - one with serious affirmations on and the other an "alternative" set with funny affirmations on. I did my funny ones first, here they are:

I painted the backgrounds, stamped the border and Stampotique's Supergirl, colouring her with ProMarkers. I handwrote the affirmation and printed the pills from the net, cut them out and added them on.

For my serious ones I took a photo of the background before I covered it over as it's part of it. I sprayed with Dylusions Turquoise and After Midnight then used letter stencils to ghost the word free.

I stamped over the background with Dylusions stamps. I cut Tim Holtz bird cage from dark blue card and cut it open as though it had been broken. The bird image and the words, Set Yourself Free are both from Etsy, which I printed, cut and stuck down. I stamped the wavy Dylusions border and then went over it with black pen as I'd stamped it in teal and it wasn't very visible. This is the finished result...

And here are the other two:

The others that I've seen are fantastic and I think they are going to be a really lovely set when they are all complete. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else does. Keep Crafting. Sian xx

Tick tock...

The theme for the January Card Swap on UKS is time/clocks with added options of leaving white space and adding steampunk elements. I chose an Octopode digi stamp as my main image incorporating both steampunk and time/clocks. Here's my finished card:

I coloured the clock with Satin, Aubergine and Ice Grey ProMarkers, used aubergine and cream pearl cards to mat and layer, cut grey cogs out with a Stampin' Up! punch, cut purple cogs out with a Tim Holtz die then printed the sentiment from Craft Artist using a weathered background and purple font. Here they are all together:

I enjoyed making these very much and look forward to February's card swap. Keep Crafting - Sian xx

Word Play

I received my journal, Word Play, back today meaning the end of From the Ashes CJ (part 1). I absolutely love what everyone has done and feel so happy that I chose this subject and thrilled to pieces at the work that everyone has put it to make this such a beautiful work of art. Thank you so much my Ashes friends :)

The instruction booklet looks like this:

and includes a large - two page - list of words to choose from. Once you've chosen one (or more) words you then just create an art journal page based on that word. Words mean a lot to me and now this journal does too :)

Everyone was asked to complete a matching tag with their name and any details of their work on it.

I've chopped the bottom off on purpose as it has my address on!

I started the ball rolling using the words Rainfall and Safe. The noise of rainfall makes me feel safe and I have a cd of rain noises that I play when I need to feel that safety. I left the LO simple because what I had to say was quite simple.

Next was Karen's amazingly gorgeous colourful Dancing Queen. She's managed to blend a host of stunning colours without muddying them up creating a stunning background and she's used one of my favourite Stampotique images :) :

Then Chris's powerful message about not being scared of the unknown. I love butterflies and nature and Chris has managed to swirl colours together to create this beautiful piece.

Marie's bright, cheerful Sunshine stands out and makes you smile as soon as you see it. I love the Dylusions flowers and quote and the happiness of this gorgeous page!

Yolanda's amazing fairy page is magical and she wouldn't know this but that silhouette picture she has used is one of my all time favourites and I have considered it as a tattoo :o) I love the blend of colours she has used.

Tracy has used two of my favourite colours red and purple to make this beautiful heartfelt piece

Sally went for the word, scared, and created this gorgeous piece of deep colours and stamping with a gorgeous mirrored image.

And last but certainly not least the lovely Chrissie has mixed gorgeous shades of purple, turquoise and green and managed to most definitely sum me up with the words Unique and Awesome haha! Actually she summed up the women on this CJ who are all unique and awesome and have created pieces of art to match. I also love the woman who is "trying on moods" - I must use that next time I'm trying to explain my current mood to hubby.

Thank you once again to everyone for making this a really special collection or art that I will treasure forever. Sian xxx

Colour my world

Part of the From the Ashes CJ on UKScrappers, this gorgeous book was called Colour My World and we were asked to do two layouts showing what colours we wear. My first thoughts were purple! I love purple everything including clothes.  I usually wear purple with black and particularly like them when they are striped as it's definitive of a rock look. Here's my purple and black page:

I used dylusions spray and stamps and the image is a Kenny K download - Vikki Lee Vicious

For my second colour I went with something I love to wear more as an accessory - silver. I love silver rings, necklaces, silver designs on black clothes - again to fit in with the fact that I love rock music and I love the rock chick look and black and silver fit in with that again.

I used some fab spiderweb silver card I have, a grungeboard skull and black card with silver pen.

This was a fab journal to work in, beautifully made and I'm sure it will look even more amazing when it's completed with all the colours it has in it :) Keep Crafting. Sian xx
