Quotes to Live By...

Here's my entry into Cynthia's CJ for the You're Having A Laugh circle on UKScrappers. Her theme was Quotes to Live By:

The background stamp and female are She Art and the quote is Dylusions which i felt matched the She Art doll's dress stating "She decided to Leap"

I used Distress inks for the background colour and blended pro-markers on the quote

The idea was taken from a cardI saw on Pinterest (my latest addiction) - here's the original:

and here's the link to the blog entry it comes from:

Such a perfect day...

It's my turn to host the weekly challenge on UKScrappers. My challenge criteria is:

"Music and lyrics mean a great deal to my husband and I - specifically music to Gareth and lyrics to me so for 5 points please include some lyrics and for another 5 points please include some musical notes on your LOs

I've always included my tattoos in my challenges and this time is no exception. I have a tattoo of some symbols on my back of which only I know the meaning. Therefore please include some hidden journaling for 10 points. I'd love to see creative ways to include this on LOs.

Finally to continue with my alternative theme, hubby has just got a new piercing. I've had my fair share of piercings but they don't seem to like me. I think metal is best kept off my face and on the scrapbook page so for the final 10 points please use some metal on your LO."

And here are my examples:

Paper Layout:

I used a metal tab:

And my swing photo, "swings" forward to reveal hidden journaling which doubles as my lyrics:

"Like a bird above the trees
Gliding gently on the breeze
I wish that all my life I'd be
Without a care and flying free"

Digi Sample:

A day spent around the beautiful Lake Iseo near Lake Garda:

There is journaling behind the large set of photos:

Used "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed lyrics and at the bottom right is "Sea Lyrics" by Smith and Mighty:

"Sky reflected ocean, submerged in blue
Reflecting me and you and everybody
Sea of sparkling sunlight we wash away
Begin another new day"

Family Photo...

I was pleased that my friend Chrissie came after me in the mail art trail on UKScrappers... she loves steampunk so it was the perfect opportunity to ahem... buy more Octopode which I seem to be using for EVERYTHING lately!

So I made her this little piece of mail art...

All the images are pre-coloured Octopodes which I printed and cut out. I made the heading in Craft Artist 2... I love the family pet - the steampunk owl at the bottom that I had to include as Chrissie likes owls too :o) She text me the morning she got it so I knew she liked it :o)

Mail art...

Here's a little piece of mail art I made on the mail art trail at UKScrappers:

The background was left over card from when I made some inchies and twinchies, using Dylusions sprays... the fairy and star stamps are Lavinia, the tree is Suzi Blu's Tree of Love stamp and the quote is Dylusions.

All coloured in with promarkers.

Hopefully it's all still in tact when it arrives :)

Secret Vices...

As part of a swap I'm in called Secret Vices we had to create "something" based on the vices given by another random member of the group. I got the lovely Frances who listed her vices as:

1. Not tidying after crafting
2. Hidden objects games
3. Chocolate

(Specifically Frances likes dark chocolate coffee creams)

So I decided to go for a Secret Book which would hold some hidden object games using some before pictures of my tip of a craft room, which also fit Frances' theme of never tidying her craft room up :o)

So here's the pics - Front Cover:

Intro page:

5 Hidden Object games where Frances has to find ten items in the mess that "was" my craft room
(of course it's a perfect haven of tidiness now - not!)

The hidden drawers that make this a secret book:

I've put lots of goodies inside the drawers as I know Frances has a "thing" for making chunky ATCs and I'm hoping she will find a use for it all :o)

There's a lot of metal bits and pieces in the middle and right hand drawer.

And finally... the back:

But of course the swap wouldn't be complete without sending Frances some of her favourite chocolates would it... and i was really pleased that the box (when it finally arrived) was the same colour, shape and size as my book :o)

I'm blogging this prior to posting so I hope Frances likes it... if I publish it we can take that as a yes she did, phew!

Inchies and Twinchies

Another swap on UKS... the return of inchies and twinchies. This time I was pleased to see some themed options including Rainbow inchies and twinchies and Storybook themed ones. I opted for Violet inchies and twinchies, green twinchies and in the storybook group Beauty and the Beast inchies and Humpty Dumpy twinchies. And here they are:

Beauty and the Beast inchies:

I used black card, an Octopode rose and promarkers

Humpty Dumpty:

Another Octopode image coloured with promarkers,
a dylusions and paint background, promarker and gelly roll border

My Violet inchies:

More Octopode images, each flower is half inch to an inch tall and very finickity to cut out...
The letters are digital octopode, printed out and coloured in:

My Violet Twinchies:

It may not surprise you by now that this is yet another Octopode image, pre-coloured this time.

And finally my "green" twinchies. The background looks lighter in real life.

Thanks for looking. Keep Crafting. Sian xxx
