Dance your heart out...

As part of a long-term swap with a group of friends we agreed to create a TH small shadow box frame on a theme for a swap partner. It came from an article in Craft Stamper where they created a scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream using Stampotiques and a 5" squared frame (I think). I stuck very closely to the remit after getting Rebecca for my swap partner who wanted a quote. I happen to love quotes but I did spend a lot of time searching for one. In the end I went for one that you have to process a little but has meaning for me and from what I knew of Rebecca I felt she would also find meaning in it.

The quote is:

"And those who were seen dancing were though to be insane
by those who could not hear the music."
by Friederich Nietzsche

I sent it off to Rebecca then realised I'd taken no photos (doh!) so Rebecca's fab daughter took some for me! Thank you! Here they are:

I found the image I created for the back just in case the writing isn't clear, here is what I wrote for the back in way of explanation of why I chose the quote.

How I Made It
I used a TH shadow box and feet and took the inside compartments out. I painted the inside black and for the outer part I sprayed TH music tissue paper with Dylusions ink, ripped it up then pasted it all over with matte mult-medium. I used Dylusions Doolally Doris and cut and coloured 12 of her heads as the judgemental onlookers who can't hear the music. The eyes are also Dylusions. I kept them all brown, grey and black to suggest that being so judgemental is a black and white and dull way to live. In contrast I coloured the 3 crazy dancing Stampotique figures brightly and attached them with acetate (idea given to me by the lovely leanie!) so they wobbled ie danced :o) Finally I attached the quote in two parts to the top and bottom of the front frame.

Thankfully Rebecca likes it.

Finally you can see the AMAZING work of art that Rebecca created for me in return. It takes pride of place on my craft room wall so I can see it at all times. And it has real speakers that work. It really is astonishing!!!

Keep Crafting! Sian xx
