Handmade Project Life Cards

A great idea for a swap m UKScrapper, handmade project life cards.  We had to make ten 3x4 cards and 5 4x6 cards. I made two sets and here they are:
I stuck to the same colour palette for each set. The first set I used red, orange and yellow.
This card is distress paint dabbers and an Indigo Blu stamp

The background on this card is created with pan pastels and an Inkylicious stamp, stamped in versamark

This card is Dylusions sprays, Dylusions stamp and Stampington washi tape

For my second set I chose pinks and purples. I used some Messy Head card for the first 5 on which I stamped a Lavinia fairy in black archival and the word wish in momento angel pink.

This card is plain white painted with lilac and jasmine pink Luminarte Silks, in real life you can see the lovely sheen and shimmer on it.

Finally this white card was sprayed with Dylusions ink then stamped with Lavinia's Believe, a fairy and stars

Looking forward to receiving some different ones back.

Such a perfect day...

It's my turn to host the weekly challenge on UKScrappers. My challenge criteria is:
"Music and lyrics mean a great deal to my husband and I - specifically music to Gareth and lyrics to me so for 5 points please include some lyrics and for another 5 points please include some musical notes on your LOs

I've always included my tattoos in my challenges and this time is no exception. I have a tattoo of some symbols on my back of which only I know the meaning. Therefore please include some hidden journaling for 10 points. I'd love to see creative ways to include this on LOs.

Finally to continue with my alternative theme, hubby has just got a new piercing. I've had my fair share of piercings but they don't seem to like me. I think metal is best kept off my face and on the scrapbook page so for the final 10 points please use some metal on your LO."

June Week 3 Challenge

Mojo Busting...

I was happy to be invited to join a CJ called Mojo Busters as it embarked on it's 3rd circle. December's CJ for me was an AMOP or All My Own Photos and is called Memories. Lynn very sadly said goodbye to her beloved husband Kevin earlier this year and she asked us to create two layouts using her photos, one of them together and one of Kevin on his own. Here's what I created:

Handmade with love...

I've got photo calendars for everyone for Christmas this year because I think it's a lovely present that lasts all year and makes you smile. For hubby I wanted to go the extra mile and I've made him his very own calendar. I used the gorgeous Graphic 45 12 x 12 standing calendar base and their gorgeous A Place In Time papers which give you everything you need to create the pages except for your photos. And here's the finished calendar:

 

There was an extra page so I made these:

And then I decorated the stand as well... waste not want not...

Our dogs mean a lot to both of us and I'm hoping this is a calendar we can reuse by just replacing the little white calendar papers each year. Thanks for looking. Keep Crafting. Sian xx

Stuff

I realised that I only ever blog swaps or CJs here at Live Scrap Love so I thought I'd be brave and blog some other "stuff" of mine!

Starting off small, here's a little card I made to accompany something very small I was sending somebody - I didn't want to put it alone in an envelope as it would be flimsy. It's made using stampin up card, Tim Holtz stamps and an image from a Jem's Design's goth CD.

I rarely if ever post my scrapbook pages, not sure why but here's a few - some my favourites, some just happen to be recent pages:

Ok, onto art journaling... a recentish discovery of mine and something I love and hope to love for the rest of forever! I've got Kate Crane's art journaling dvds and that is where the majority of my inspiration comes from - and Dyan Reaveley. In fact I've just booked a course at Art From the Heart, something I've wanted to do for aaaages! Here's some backgrounds, for those of you familiar with Kate Crane's DVDs you will be able to spot what I've done a mile off haha.

And here's one I finished ages ago... hoping to improve my technique but not bad for a newbie-ish

Crafty Goals for 2012

Like so many others I've chosen to see the start of the new year as the start of new things in my life. Like so many others I have set many resolutions over the year and kept none of them so why keep doing it? Well I don't like to give up and I like making lists and I like the idea of trying no matter what. I have quite a few goals this year but here are my crafty ones:

1. 52 Walks
The aim is as it says to complete 52 walks this year. On each walk we are to take ten photos. its really a photography challenge and there is a group on flickr, but for me I see it more as a getting out of the house to exercise and giving me something (else) to scrap!

2. Bust my stash
Another UKS group dedicated to getting through our mounds of stash and using up all those scraps instead of continuously buying pretty things and then smelling the papers or just looking at them thinking, "ahhhhhh, wooooooow, oooooooh". I haven't agreed like some to not buy a single thing all year - there are some products that come put that need to be bought - but Im making a conscious effort to buy less and use what I've got

and in that vein...

3. Make 10 cards per month
I've lots of toppers, a drawer full of House Mouse decoupage, a drawer full of Glitter Girls Goddess decoupage, two drawers full of Hunkydory kits, numerous CDs... to name but a few. Im going to make my way through that lot this year!

4. Make ten pages per month
This will include the weekly and monthly challenges on UKS, my ongoing "family" scrapbook, my ongoing "me" scrapbook and a new challenge called "Month By Numbers" which I think is a great way to remember your life.

5. Be inspired by those who inspire me
There are two scrapbookers in particular who BLOW ME AWAY - Perfectly Imperfect and Tworzysko Finnabair so with all credit in the right place I will be taking inspiration from these very talented ladies

6. Other Crafts
I'd also like to complete 2 Art Journal pages per month, continue with my swaps and CJS on UKS and finish all the classes I started in 2011!

7. Non-crafty
I had to mention this Declutter Calendar because its FAB and I will be having a go at that too!


If I manage all that this year I will be amazed. If I don't - well I don't! What are your new year resolutions?

Fake metal embellishments

I subscribe to 3 magazines each month one of them being Scrapbook Magazine but its usually a year later when I get round to actually reading them. Well I finally got round to reading edition 55 from summer (maybe not even this summer!!!) and I found a fab technique on page 33 to make fake metal embellishments and I made this:

And it was sooo easy! I got some grungepaper inked it up with versamark, covered it in gold wow embossing powder, heated it up and repeated this process 3 times. Then on the third time whilst the powder was still hot I stamped into it and viola!!

The article said you can rub over it with black alcohol ink - not sure I've got any as I don't really know one ink pad from the other in terms of what's in them - but I rubbed Black Soot Distress Ink over the top and managed to get that dirty metal look anyway.

Lovely! Maybe now I will stop buying so many metal charms?!
